How will clear aligners straighten my teeth?

After taking a 3D scan of your mouth, Dr. Levy will create a personalized digital treatment plan that maps out the exact movements of your teeth. Based on that plan, a series of clear aligners will be created just for you. Each aligner is designed to apply just the right amount of force to the right place at the right time to move your teeth into their proper position. Our Crescent team will be with you each step of the way to monitor your progress.

What are clear aligners made of?

Clear aligners are made of a soft, flexible, multilayered thermoplastic material. They are FDA-approved and don’t contain any BPAs, BPS’, latex, or gluten. Clear aligners are thin, fit comfortably and snugly over your teeth, and are virtually invisible.

How long does clear aligner treatment take?

The duration of your clear aligner treatment will depend on several factors, including how complex your orthodontic issues are and how well you wear your clear aligners. Dr. Levy will determine how long your treatment will take based upon your specific needs, but the average treatment time is between 12 and 24 months.

How many hours per day should I wear my aligners?

For the best results and shortest possible treatment time, you should wear your clear aligners 22 hours per day. You should only take them out when you are eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing.

Is clear aligner treatment painful?

Clear aligners works by applying gentle, constant force to move your teeth into the desired position. Because of this, some people do feel temporary discomfort during the first few days of wearing a new set of aligners. It is generally described as a feeling of “pressure” and is completely normal.

How often will I have appointments with Dr. Levy?

Once you receive your clear aligners, we will schedule a follow-up appointment in six-eight weeks. After that, you will come in once every 10 to 16 weeks (the better you wear them, the more flexible we can be with your appointments) until your treatment is complete.

Is there a difference between the various brands of clear aligners?

In short, no. 

One of the most heavily marketed clear aligner brands is Invisalign, but other brands don’t fall short. Some clear aligners even exceed Invisalign’s performance and many orthodontists prefer them. We will always provide you with a quality brand that Dr. Levy is confident will help you reach your target smile.
