3 Ways to Properly Clean Your Invisalign® Aligners

At Crescent Orthodontics which serves South Lyon, MI and surrounding areas, Dr. Ashley L. Reynolds and her team recommend that patients wear their aligners for approximately 22 hours a day. We also encouraged that patients remove their aligners for eating, drinking, brushing and flossing, a perfect time during which to clean them. Here are three different Invisalign® cleaning methods to consider:

1. The Invisalign® cleaning system – designed by Invisalign®, this cleaning system helps remove plaque within 15 minutes and keeps your aligners odor-free and clear. To find out how you can get the Invisalign® cleaning system, ask Dr. Reynolds at your appointment.

2. Baking soda – if you choose to use a baking soda product, Dr. Reynolds suggests dissolving 1 tablespoon of baking soda in 1/2 cup of water, and then soaking your trays in the baking soda water for about an hour.

3. Brush your aligners – cleaning your aligners with your toothbrush and toothpaste to keep them fresh and clean of any particles.

At Crescent Orthodontics, we want to help you keep your Invisalign® aligners clean so that you can straighten your teeth invisibly. If you have any questions regarding your Invisalign® care, don’t hesitate to give us a call at 248-437-3377. As always remember to rinse before putting your aligners back on and keep smiling!
